Rachelle Street feels like a fraud parading about the poetry scene when all she has is a photography degree. She studied visual art and theatre at Illinois Wesleyan University and fine art photography at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. She loves New York but misses her grandparents' dairy farm, her nieces and nephew, and the stars. She was a member of the 2002 Bar 13/Union Square National Poetry Slam Team and won the 2002 Urbana Queer Slam at The Bowery Poetry Club. She's performed at The Culture Project, Westside Rhyme, AS220, Brane Kandi and Gay Pride Nyack. She currently works as a teaching artist for Community Word Project and The After School Corporation, teaching poetry and art to grade school students. She is also a teacher assistant at the International Center of Photography.
