Foundering by Karl Wiemer
Uncounted, wandering days ago,
Your heavy waters closed silent above my head.
I have yet to feel firm earth resist my foot.
Uncounted, unkempt days ago,
Slow waves rolled from your cove across my heart.
And I, excited, failed to note my quietly expiring breath.
Uncounted, directionless days ago,
I fell to drift un-tethered upon your seas.
And gave myself up in a whisper sighed through smiling, blue lips.
Now on this shore-less day,
Grounded on a shoal of one-way correspondence.
Hull rent wide on unanswered calls.
I swamp in cold uncharted waters.
