Ashley Shelby's work has appeared in The Nation, E Magazine, Post Road, and collectedstories.com, among other journals. Her first book, Red River Rising: Anatomy of a Flood and the Survival of an American City, was published in April. Her fiction has been awarded the William Faulkner Short Fiction Award. She grew up in Minneapolis and now lives in New York's East Village.
